Each day we are closer to warm, sunny days.
For many years when I rode my bike or ran I did not carry ID. I never thought of the possibility that anything would happen.
I did have accidents. I did have ambulance runs to the ER. I was lucky that I did not complicate my situation.
Three years ago I got wiser. I started carrying ID, medical details and emergency info on paper. This year I gave myself a gift of the Roadid. It is a bracelet that has my name, a phone number and web address for essential medical info, people to contact.
Having this information when I am out gives me comfort and it gives my loved ones comfort. I hope that is an an investment never used.
While I am doing my evening segment on the dyna cycle resistance trainer my rear is getting sore after 30 minutes.
This happens every time. My legs do fine, but my seat hurts first. on my first multi day tour my legs were great, but I could not sit too long in the saddle before I needed to stand up.
When I started touring again I was sure I did not want a sore rear. You need to "put in your seat time."
You need to condition yourself to be ready for many days in the saddle. That is part of reason for riding now. I will be ready to get out when the weather breaks.
I just finished doing 46 minutes on my mag trainer. Why now at a late hour when I would enjoy just sitting?
At some tour in the future I will be comfortable under a nice shade tree enjoying a light breeze and not want to move. After an appropriate rest, I can remember tonight and "OK, push on and go that last stretch."
As you prepare think about situations that you might confront and do something similar. It builds your confidence to feel like you have experienced that before.
This simulation helps to give the ride a purpose. I bet you can come up with some other ideas.
