arrived at amarillo-almost halfway!

 So many are having the heat wave in the central part of the country, so I would ride in the heat in many places.  The wind continues to help push me along.  I sure appreciate that.  Going short mileage days  did not seem like I would not make much progress.  I am surprised  how far I have gone in  53 days by covering over 1100 miles. I have had time in the day to explore the areas that I have traveled through. I got another post card today.

Do you think you can eat a 72 oz steak? If you do, you get it for free! I would not try.

https://tpwd.texas.gov/spdest/parkinfo/maps/gis/palo_duro_canyon/   This is the second largest canyon in the US. I never heard of it.  This is a state park and is 120 miles long and averages 6 miles wide. What beautiful colors on a sunny day. 

This is the Cadillac Ranch outside Amarillo.  It was created in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez, and Doug Michels. The are part of an avant-gard art design group called the Ant Farm.  They planted nose first.

These cars are at the same angle as the pyramids. You are encouraged to add your own spray paint.

The railroad location really impacted where towns popped up and if they still stop some place that town still has life.
