It was about 18 months after I started riding again that I finally bought bike specific shoes. I had always used some kind of exercise shoes. Like almost all of my gear purchases I went to REI . They knew of my tours and suggested a Shimano shoe. I was surprised by the stiffness of the sole.
These shoes have prove durable, effective and comfortable for daily tour walking.
These shoes are durable rubber to withstand the jagged metal pedals. These stiff soles provide a stiff foundation to support the foot. Occasionally I will ride with normal shoes and that reminds me of all the good that cycle specific provide. These shoes are comfortable when you get you around for a store stop, a short hike and at camp. On tours I bring a pair of sandals for camp and set times.
