East Coast Greenway (Going North): Myrtle Beach, SC into NC: Oak Island, Wilmington, Topsail Island, Swanboro, Ocracoke,

At North Myrtle Beach we turned from the shore.

Turning inland for awhile. I enjoy the smooth asphalt.

These campgrounds will put me with the RVs.

My loaded tour bike is an RV.  I carry my bedroom, kitchen and living area.  I level my home as best that I can. I do not need to dump the dirty water and the other. My camping neighbors always show such hospitality.

Wilmington is the eighth most populous city in North Carolina. For many years it was the largest in the state. This is a port city with the Cape Fear River entering into the Atlantic Ocean. I had the chance to visit this city a couple of years ago and enjoyed the historic downtown and the board walk.

When we visited Wilmington we actually stayed on Topsail Island. The photos below are from that trip.

When it looks like rain I look for shelter options.

We stayed one block off the beach!

The ocean was refreshing to my feet.

This town is the setting for the Nicholas Sparks' novel The Guardian.

Note that this part of the route uses a ferry.

Very flat, marshy, and windy.
