The English Scottish border runs 96 miles. A few miles north of here I arrive in Canonbie. The Traquair House is Scotland's oldest inhabited house from 1107. The grounds for general view are closed. Since 1491 the Stuart family have lived there. https://www.traquair.co.uk/ for more information and a nice video. The woolen industry was big in this area, but now as a bedroom community for Edinburgh. The area attracts vacationers. The conqueror challenge virtual app that I am using to track my tour also is giving me the local temperature of each day. In Michigan at the end of February and early March daily averages can be expected in the 30sF and below freezing in the night. I am noticing that this area of England and Scotland have been experiencing many days in the 40s to low 50s. That is nice. I am going through Leadbury as I write this today. This small town is situated in the red area above called Midlothian. This region is described as east-central lowlands. I am 17.5 miles south of Edinburgh and John O'Groats is somewhere about 300 miles north.
