The rest of last week helped battle whatever got me down. I had enough energy to do two outdoor rides this week. I have only done five rides this season.
Ride each of my bikes.
I want to be sure that they are ready.
Take longer rides.
During the winter I rarely ride longer than 60 minutes inside. I need to again be comfortable with longer time in the saddle.
Feel the wind.
Using the trainers inside you forget what it takes to battle the wind. The spring temperatures always give you wind. How can I maintain a good cadence? How can I keep my energy and legs going?
Feeling the road.
Maintaining your cadence may be challenges by bumps in the street. You must avoid the holes and gaps.
Enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
I breathe deeper outside and the cool fresh air is very enjoyable. The sunshine always lifts my spirits.
Find out what layers and fabrics work best.
Today I changed to a different thickness in my long sleeved, performance, wicking T. My basic windbreaker helps to reduce the wind penetration and keep me comfortable at 52°. I do not like having to stop the adjust layers.
Soon I will be riding more outside than inside.
