Spring is Starting to Show Up

This year has been a nice winter.  Snow and consistent cold temperatures to maintain the pond and lake ice.  This means that I did not do outside rides until February 24 and did another ride the next day.  In March the temperatures have allowed me to ride outside four days.  The forecasts indicated more outside time than inside trainer time for the remainder of the month.

Snow was still along the side of the road, but the pavement was clear of potential slippery spots. The sunshine probably saved me from adding a layer.  The wind resistant jacket is necessary. The fleece buff warms the air into my lungs.

I like to ride my Trek 1000 during these first days.

I have a one kilometer and one mile loop that I can ride close to home.  If it is too rough to ride or I want to quit early, I have an easy ride home.  I will continue to do laps and by the end of the session I will complete hundreds of feet of climbing. The wind is part of the adjustment of riding outside.  We do not have calm spring days.

I kept the e-bike also in the garage so it was a quick grab on a nice day.

The Freway is a good way for me to travel further from home and handle more climbing.  The assist helps me heading into the headwinds.  The outside rides give me a different challenge from what I have been doing on the trainers.

In the summer this stream is dry except following heavy rains.

The inches of snow has been melting and all those storm sewers are heading here. 

The blue skies are a treat.

It still gets chilly when you ride in the shade or when the Sun goes behind the clouds.  I am still looking for the first buds on the trees.  Who can complain about anything?  What glorious rides!
