Two historic signs from my Cycle the Erie Canal.
The sign to the immediate right is on a bridge in Seneca Falls, New York. It remembers a local man who lost his life saving someone drowning in the river. The movie director, Frank Capra saw this sign during a visit in the 1930's it became an inspiration for his film "It Is a Wonderful Life." The sign on the far right is from the western terminus of the Erie Canal. Once this Canal opened it allow the Michigan Territory to grow during the 1830's. |
