Point Cabrillo lighthouse. Mendocino
Mendocino may have looked familiar from  being a photogenic spot for movies.  It is popular with vacationers and artists.  The coastal town remind me of some of our Michigan towns along the Lake Michigan shore. I love the lighthouses like Michigan also.

Near Albion. We have a city by that name in Michigan.

Point Arena Lighthouse
It was nice to see another lighthouse today.  This one has tours.  It is 115' tall and opened in 1908. It is still 130 miles to San Francisco,

The Anchor Bay Campground would be wonderful place to spend the night.

Part of the Sea Ranch Development.
Started in the 1960s and trying to blend with the landscape you find unique designs. This area covers 10 miles of the Sonoma County coast. In response to this private use along the coast, a law allowed the public access to various areas.

I do now, but I did not for many years.  False beliefs: I won't fall.  I will catch myself.  I am not going that fast.

This past week I fell down.  I am okay, but it was a scare.  I am old and I should not be falling down and tempting fate.  I go to the doctor and they always ask, "Have you fallen?"   I always say that I do not bounce like I used too.

I was going along a two track in the woods.  This was not a technical trail and was rated for beginners.  There were some ruts from water erosion.  There were some areas of loose gravel.  There were some damp ground. Out of nowhere I hit a root bang.
Picture
I think that I hit the root on the left and it threw my front wheel perpendicular to the path. I slid on the damp grass and went down. I was able to extend my arms to land on the palms of  my gloved hands.
Picture
i got up and looked for blood.  I could see the bulge in my right bicep.  The bruising in the photo came later.  No broken bones or scratches.  I felt very lucky.  I was able to ride and the bike was okay.

Bike accidents happen all to quickly and be prepared.  Ride with care.
