I will be exploring part of what is a spur of the Northern Tier which stretches from Maine to Washington state.  When this pandemic is over riding in the Upper Peninsula  to add to the trace the Lower Peninsula.  Below is my route through Wisconsin.  I am not sure which is the Adventure Cycling Association route.  The route shown is based on Google maps for the bicycle. I decided to take the upper grey route since it was going through Rice Lake.

Very nice paths through Minneapolis and on to Stillwater. From there I got onto quiet roads.
Picture
Elevation does not look too bad, but I did hit some deep descents and steep climbs. It is much better when I say to myself, "I will walk when I need to."
Picture
I love when I find these preserved steel truss bridges. They can handle the foot and bike traffic. Going across them takes be back to olden days
Picture
Many years ago I worked at this camp and I was happy to see it again. The trees were taller and my hair is balding and gray.
Picture
From Camp Phillips I went south to Rice Lake, this was the biggest town near camp. I will add this sign to my collection.

There is great fall color in this area.
Picture
It is not hard to find a quiet road and some even have a good shoulder. Drivers have been kind.
Picture
There are some very nice places to stop and enjoy nature. Many lakes and streams in this area.
Picture
That wraps up my first four days.

I have averaged 20.45 miles per day during my 55 days of riding.. I think once I get to Minneapolis I will ride back to my house. I will start planning the route.
Picture
Wind was from the south today at 16-20 mile per hour. I did not get much benefit.
Picture
Today I also found an example of the old technology. It needed some grease I could hear the squeak.
Picture
A short silo in Lyon County in MN which is in my virtual ride today.

The fall colors near Red Wing MN and the Mississippi River

They predict that I will be done in a week. I better not eat too much turkey on Thanksgiving.
Picture
Ramsey Falls in the Ramsey park in Redwood Falls, MN. This park also has a campground with hiking trails, golf course and a zoo.
Picture
Morning steam off the Minnesota River. Crisp fall air and wonderful blue sky.

I am staying on pace to finish by November 20. I heard from a friend that was visiting MN last week and they had snow. The land of 10,000 lakes.
Picture
I created a nice string of pearls from Yellowstone to 60 miles out of Minneapolis. I was riding my 61st ride on this virtual tour. It will be about 3 more days.
Picture
Downtown Hutchinson, MN. I would like to spend some time looking around.

Lake Minnewashta.
Picture
I am pleased with the steady progress in this last week as I moved to ride inside. Only 44 miles left!
Picture
Minneapolis has been known for awhile as a great bike friendly town.
Picture
Completed the virtual ride from Yellowstone to Minneapolis. I enjoyed doing the rides her in Michigan and inside and some day I will love going out to these areas again.

The nice weather in Michigan is allowing me to do good daily rides that keeps me on pace to finish in a couple of weeks.  It has not been just nice it is record setting at 70 degrees.

An abandoned house.

The world's largest pheasant is found in Huron, S.D. It is made of steel and fiberglass. It is 28' high and 40' long. This area is premier hunting area. I guess the pheasants like the area most of the year.
Picture
Oakwood Lake State Park in S.D, There are two campgrounds and multiple lakes. In the warmer part of the year, the beaches are open.
Picture
In Brooking ,S.D. you want to be sure to find the bike shop. This nearest one is hundreds of miles away. I love to see the murals that may brighten a town.

Lake Hendricks, MN This lake straddles the SD/ MN border. The city campground is very close.
Picture
Today it was 77 degrees during my ride. This has been the best week for riding in November ever.
Picture
These are my totals over the last 12 weeks and since the weather has been so warm, last week was my highest mileage total.  The following are some pictures from today's ride.

Many trees have great color yet.

This is an old railroad bed. At the end it connects to two township parks with many nice trails.
